Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
At CC Solutions MEDSPA, a lymphatic drainage massage, or manual lymph drainage, is a treatment that uses massage therapy to stimulate the lymphatic system and rid your body of unwanted toxins. The technique initially began in Germany to help treat lymphedema. This condition causes swelling of the arms, legs, or other areas. Lymphedema is usually the result of damage to the lymph nodes, which causes excess fluid called lymph to accumulate in tissues.
Today, we use lymphatic drainage massage therapy to help stimulate the lymphatic system, providing fantastic health benefits. During lymphatic drainage massage therapy, our professionally trained massage therapist and registered nurse, Nicole, will use gentle downward or upward strokes to push the excess lymphatic fluid through the appropriate channels and clear the affected lymph nodes.
What Is Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy Used For?
Within the body’s lymphatic system, a lymph fluid carries nutrients and oxygen to cells while removing toxins through lymph nodes. The lymphatic system is a crucial part of your body’s immune system that relies on pressure from the surrounding muscles and blood vessels to stimulate flow. At CC Solutions MEDSPA in Flower Mound, we use lymphatic drainage massage therapy to help encourage movement and drainage of lymphatic fluid. We use this manual therapy to help:
- Reduce swelling in some regions of the body, including the face, arms, and legs
- Stimulate healing processes
- Enhance overall health and appearance of your skin
- Improve blood flow and circulation
- Detoxify the body
- Provide pain or stress relief

What Does Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy Involve?
At CC Solutions MEDSPA, we perform lymphatic drainage massage therapy in the comfort of your doctor’s office. It involves your doctor gently pushing the excess fluid from the tissue. This therapy is painless and will not require the use of any anesthetics.
To begin, you will rest comfortably, usually lying on your back. Once you are relaxed and comfortable, your doctor can start the manual lymph drain process, which generally begins with treating unaffected areas. After treatment of the unaffected areas, our registered nurse will gently stimulate affected areas of the body with slow, gentle, downward, or upward strokes in the direction of the lymphatic system’s natural flow to allow excess fluids to move through. Trained professionals may also rub, tap, or push the target areas.
Depending on your specific treatment needs, treatment time will vary. Once the massage is complete, you can return to your normal daily activities. Your doctor may recommend specific at-home massage techniques further to stimulate the flow of lymphatic fluid through the body.
